How And When As Manhattan Island Created?

How and when as Manhattan archipelago created? Has it always been an island? I'm asking because in an episode of The Twilight Zone a plane went back in time far enough to see dinosaurs and the islet was already there. I'm just wondering if the island really did exist in the dinosaur days.

It was created by Dr. Manhattan from the Watchmen.

Bamboo For A Roofdeck In New York City?

I have a matter-of-fact roof deck in Manhattan. Zone 5 but gets lot's of direct sun light (and is hotin July and Aug). It also gets some snow in the winter.

I have in mind I might be Zone 5, not sure though.

I'd like some big green plants and especially like bamboo. I can build a ginormous planter and wrap/cover in the winter if necessary. Any suggestions?

Would a Japanese Maple do allright?

I into a Japanese maple might do ohk. Of course it would do better if it was planted in the ground. If you go with that or any potted shrub/tree for that consequence you want to make sure that you wrap it up really well for the winter. Get some burlap and twine. Use a join of layers. I'm not sure how well the bamboo will do through the winter. Just remember during the winter it gets very faint and windy up on roof tops in New York and a lot of plants may not come back next season. Your best bet is to call a townsperson garden center and ask them what they think would work best for you. Just by telling them what you are looking for, the sort of light you get, etc. they can suggest something.

How Is Like Living Among Skyscrapers (whether In Manhattan, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Tokyo Or Singapore)?

I'm european, I always lived in old documented cities. I saw some new zones with skyscrapers but I really don't know how it feels like to live there. Can a man last a whole life there?

Well it isn't in fact like that.

Much of Singapore and Hong Kong is not developed upon with plenty of places for hiking and customary to the beach.

Seoul in Korea is highly developed, but you can easily go to an early morning hike up one of the many mountains and accumulate water from a local temple.

Shenzhen in China is full of apartment buildings and is a city only 20 years old (20 years ago the folk was 30,000 now it is 3,000,000 not counting the outlying areas). But it is a city not defined by high boosted, but by parks.

So yes you can be whole anywhere. We are defined by our environment. Europeans do always look over their shoulders, while say the Chinese are looking forthright ahead (while crushing the past under bulldozers).

Both are different, not better or worse.

I like a crowded thriving borough, and that is what makes you whole. I hate the desert of the suburbs where at night nothing is happenning, and everyone retreats into their homes)

Does Anyone Know What Happened To Fun Zone @ Bruckner Shopping Plaza In The Bronx? It's Closed Apparently.

I call to know of any other indoor playgrounds similiar to Fun Zone in the Bronx,Ny or Manhattan. Indoor playgrounds w/ ball pit, jaunt on trains, toys food etc. I tried to find if they maybe had moved somewhere else but the number is disconnected. There was a pizza hut next door or in the Fun Zone, but's that's closed also.
hey crystal, thanx for the comeback! Yea i really really miss funzone. Went there once w/ my 2 yr old last year and went to get some pizza hut a several of months ago and sales rep downstairs @ The Childrens Place told me there were closed. Sooo I will be current to Chucky Cheese. Thanx for the idea. I take the 5 train to Gunhill. Never been around that area though. Also a coworker of mine takes her daughter to Funtopia in Central Village Queens. It's exactly the same as Funzone, plus they have a laser tag room and rooms for unofficial parties w/ dance floor. It's really nice over there and they have a huge shopping area w/ kmart, costco, conway etc. Kinda far out there for me coming from the Bronx, but it's quality it. They have a toddler area also and you get to come back the next visit for free I think. The food court is not that devoted though. They go by the name Ooba Dooba Funtopia. I think either the M or J train goes out there.

I misunderstand Fun Zone! It's only a few blocks away from where I live...we've had many headache free birthday parties there, and it was nice having a Pizza Hut in the parade. There is a Chuck E Cheese in the Bronx at 1816 Gunhill Road, along the way if you're driving to the Co-op City shopping square footage. Their number is (718) 671-2240. I also could have sworn that there was one on Fordham, as you're driving/walking up the hill lined with stores, but I could not find info for that setting.

Best of luck to you...we definitely need more family friendly locations in the BX!
