Are Hotels In Jersey City A Good Base To Visit Manhattan From?

When we are visiting NYC later this year we are thinking of staying exterior of Manhattan to obtain better value accomodation as prices of top quality hotels approaching Christmas are just too high-frequency. Would hotels across the Hudson in Jersey City be a practical alternative or too far?

It appears that the PATH train in the vicinity connects this area but how long would this take and as most 'tourist' attractions are mid central Manhattan does this go to the right places?
Also, our flights are in and out of Newark so staying West of Manhattan makes significance for that reason too.

Answer: I've stayed in Jersey Metropolis and went over to Manhattan during the day. You have to factor in the price of transportation- we took water taxi and it only took a few minutes. They then had buses which took you into the conurbation more. We normally got dropped off near Radio City Music Hall- you can take the subway from there to go to other sightseer attractions. It was nice because you got the view of the city and not the price!

Are There Any Affordable And SAFE Hotels In Manhattan (preferably In Midtown) That Accept Cash?

I am heading to NYC in mid July and unfortunatly I have no faithfulness card or any form of means to pay at a hotel. I have heard of a few places that take cash, but I am hesitant to parcel out with less than adequate conditions (bad part of town, dirty rooms, etc..) I am willing to share a bathroom with other guests due as long as it is clean. I have only 500 dollars tops for three days and I know that is a bit of a stretch but I expectancy there is something out there. No Brooklyn, Queens, or the Bronx though! Thanks.

Answer: TRY looking into this one

I heard its major. not positive on payment though. seems like they would take cash at the desk. and i know they have vacancies . it is in the HAT

Can You Recommend A Good Suite Hotel In Manhattan Priced Under $200 A Night?

I am visiting New York Megalopolis in July for 2 days but having difficulty finding a suitable hotel that fits my budget. I would like a calm hotel in mid-town or lower Manhattan. I prefer a suite (studio with king bed and kitchenette would be cloudless). Embassy Suites looks good but it is above my budget. I am a university lecturer from the UK and think if one of the Manhattan universities might have accommodation for 2 nights for visiting scholars?

Answer: The Belvedere Breakfast in Times Square - spotlessly clean - excellent staff and every room has a coffee maker, microwave and fridge

Beekman Fastness near the UN - all suites - all have kitchenettes, reasonably priced.

Radio City Apartments - all-retinue hotel

Before you book any hotel, decipher what previous guests think about the hotel - look at the traveler photos and see if they would stay there again - the roomer's reviews are much more reliable than what the hotel advertises.

Check prices at hotels.com, priceline.com, travelocity.com, expedia.com and see if you can problem a great rate for the times you need.

Have a wonderful visit!

Check with NYU and Columbia to see if they proposal accomodations for visitors.

Are There Any Good, Moderately Priced Steakhouses In Mid-town Manhattan?

(around $150 for dinner for 2 w/ 1 cocktail each) If there aren't any, can someone please reccommend a remote restaurant near Park Central Hotel in that price range?

Answer: FYI - Peter Luger's is not in Manhattan - it's in Brooklyn...

I propound Keen's Steakhouse, 72 W. 36th St., about 20 blocks away.
www.keens.com if you paucity to check them out.

I've also been to Nick & Stef's, near Madison Sq. Garden - 33rd St. and 8th Ave. Though I'd avoid it if there's a heroic or big concert at MSG that night.

The closest might be Ruth's Chris Steak House, 148 W. 51st St. Haven't been there, but they've got a kindly reputation.

Or Ben Benson's, 123 W. 52nd St.

Is The Hell's Kitchen-Clinton Area Really As Close As It Looks To The Various Attractions In Mid-Manhattan?

My girl and I are taking a trip to New York in a few weeks and we are staying at the Skyline Hotel in the Hell's Kitchenette-Clinton area, which is why we are asking this question. Any information would be appreciated. Also, if any New Yorkers or visitors to New York, have knowledge of anything about this hotel and the area, we would appreciate those comments as well. Thanks.

Answer: I don't recognize about the hotel. The area is safe and close to mid Manhattan. And there is the subway, it will take you anywhere in the city. Have a great time!
