How Are Woody Allen's, Annie Hall (1977) And Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) A Product Of Their Time?
Mar 16, 2008 by mimi | Posted in Movies
What issues, themes, concerns, or approaches evaluate what is going on in film, society, or politics of the time it was made? (sorry this was a film paper quiz..HELP)
also the same question for Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow(1999) and Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Well, because those movies reflected what's taking place at that time.
Just like the movies produced nowadays, they are the product of our current period.
At The End Of Woody Allen's "Manhattan" (spoilers)?

Did you sanction Tracy's line as "everybody gets corrupted" or "not everybody gets corrupted"? I didn't be told a not, but both Wikiquote and IMDB have it with the not. I know those aren't the world's most reliable sites, but they're the only ones I could find with the duplicate.
If any of my contacts are feeling nice, they could star this so someone might actually answer.
Contacts, I am truly impair. Though I guess I can't expect much at 3:30 on a Saturday.
I saw the motion picture again a few days ago actually, and yeah she says "not everybody gets corrupted". Although, it is ill poor to hear the 'not'. Great movie though. I've been watching all my Woody Allen DVD's again recently, just watched Sleeper and Deconstructing Harry last gloom.
edit: Ok I watched that part with subtitles just to be sure, and yeah there's a 'not' lol.
What Is The Name Of The Jazz Song That Is In The Opening Scene Of The Movie Manhattan?

Rhapsody in Pornographic, composed by George Gershwin for the Paul Whiteman Orchestra.
This is the first recorded version from 1924 with George Gershwin at the piano:
This and other versions by Paul Whiteman can be considered as so called "symphonic jazz". It's played by jazz musicians. Paul Whiteman called himself the "Prince of Jazz"... Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra played Rhapsody In Pornographic every evening at the very beginning of their show. It was kind of their trademark.
The one in the movie "Manhattan" is if I'm not mistaken the adaptation conducted by Leonard Bernstein. Such a version, which is much slower (around 8 minutes slower!), is not jazz and it's performed by a symphonic orchestra performing model music. Therefore, in a CD shop you'll find it among classical music CDs and not in the jazz section.
Manhattan Tourist Wants To Know: Does "lunar Surface" As Featured In Woody Allen's MANHATTAN Still Exist?
Feb 18, 2007 by floresflores | Posted in New York City
I interpret online that it was in Hayden Planetarium ... but then I'm also finding references to an "old" planetarium that has been closed. So I'm wondering if that special exhibit/room is history. I've been to current HP website and could not find my answer.
The Hayden Planetarium is in the Museum of See native History. Their web site: http://www.amnh.org/museum/welcome/#spac eshowhours show it was closed from Jan 25, 2007 to Feb. 1st 2007. Now unencumbered and showing "Passport to the Universe." Don't know about the lunar surface. Like most New Yorkers, haven't been there for many years.
Woody Allen disliked his employment in this film so much he offered to direct another film for United Artists for free if they kept "Manhattan" on the shelf for sound. This was Woody Allen's first film shot using the widescreen (2.35:1) anamorphic Panavision deal with. While this is Woody Allen's least favorite of the movies he has directed, this was the most commercially successful film of his career. He said years later that he was still in disbelief that he "got away with it".
