How Bad Is Traffic Greenwich Ct To Manhattan Ny? |
Oct 14, 2009 by onejuniorjr | Posted in New York City
How bad is the traffic between 5pm-7pm wensday thriving from Greenwich ct, to manhattan ny? It's 35 miles. Anyone know!?
Traffic can be extinguish on that time slot during a week day.
I know in I-95 in Conencticut, there can be bad traffic on the stretch betwen Greenwich and the NYS/Connecicut edging.
Then, forget about the Bronx. Once you hit the Bronx, I am sure you will be in bad traffic since the I-95 portion in the Bronx is bad during rush hour. Extra, there will be the traffic on whatever bridge you use to get to Manhattan and Manhattan itself.
What helps a bit is that you will be going in the opposite direction of most of the rush hour traffic. I know on I-95 in the Bronx it's almost impracticable not to be in traffic on a weekday night.
The reason I know about this is that I travel a lot between NYC and Massachusetts, so I take I-95 from the Bronx and up to where I-95 connects with I-91, and I've been on that fraction of I-95 on weedays, weekends, and various portions of the day and night.
Edit* With the guy's answer below me, I offer you do not take that route at all during rush hour! The Hutch, grand Central, B.Q.E. and especially the L.I.E. are jammed full of bad traffic during commotion hour. Plus, that route is a lot longer and you are basically doing a loop from the Bronx through Queens and into Manhattan, asset it will cost you more since you have to pay a toll on the Whitestone and the Queens-Midtown tunnel.

How Is The Traffic In Manhattan On Sundays? I'll Be In A Van And Pulling A Trailer. Am I Crazy? |
Jul 28, 2008 by Zildjian_16 | Posted in New York City
Also, can anyone put me "must see" spots while I'm in town? I'll have a couple of hours to kill. WTC memorial and Statuette of Liberty are on the list. What else?
It's not soft to drive in Manhattan even with a small car unless you're used to it. I think you should consider parking the van and taking throng transit. You can easily get all over the city and back to your van in no time at all. Since you're thinking of doing the Statue of Liberty and WTC, why don't you push to Liberty State Park in Jersey City, take the ferry there and then either take the ferry to the city or move the car to a parking lot in Jersey Big apple where you can take a subway train (PATH) to the WTC which is a short ride (10 minutes). Those trains run all evensong and are also accessible from 33rd Street (Herald Square) when you need to go back to your van.

Time To Drive In Rush Hour Traffic From Jersey To Manhattan? |
Jan 02, 2009 by Narva Prince | Posted in New York City
How elongated does it take to drive from JERSEY CITY, NJ to EAST SIDE MIDTOWN MANHATTAN (Say 34th & Lexington) at 8:30am on a WEEKDAY?
Looking for typical of amount of time it takes on average, not answers like "it's better to take a train". Thanks!
ok your richest bet since you are in jersey city is to go through the holland tunnel, and when you get off drive towards the brooklyn bridge and to take the east river/fdr appeal (get off at the downtown exit on the roundabout after the holland tunnel, take that street to chambers street, then take that to broadway. make the grade b arrive a right on broadway, then a left on park place where j and r is. go down anne street, left on gold concourse, right on pearl, and youll see the entrance to the fdr drive, take that up to the 34th street exit and keep driving dig you see lexington avenue.)
this would take you anywhere from 30 mins to an hour, probably closer to 30 mins since you are leaving at an advanced hour in the morning.
i live in central nj, and commute to downtown ny every day, about 40 miles.
good fortuity!

How Far Is Hawthorne From Manhattan (say Times Square)? Is There Heavy Traffic? Is There Cheap Transportation? |
Oct 11, 2007 by mollas | Posted in New York City
I'll be staying at Hawthorne for the backer and third weeks of November. I wanted to know how fast I can get to manhattan and what means of transportation there are. It might also be helpful to differentiate what events are going on in the period.
There is also a Hawthorne, NY that is a 40 one sec ride on Metro-North (Harlem Line) that goes to Grand Central, in the reality you were asking about that town.

I Am Driving To Manhattan, How Is The Traffic On A Mid July Friday Afternoon In Midtown West? |
Jun 19, 2006 by ny canada traveler | Posted in New York City
It is a rental, I am proper droping off in midtown west.
What time is rush hour in manhattan?
Coming into Manhattan is no emotionally upset in the afternoon. Leaving Manhattan will be the problem if it around rush hour. However, in the summer, the city clears out. . .so there is much less traffic & most people have socialistic for the shore or upstate on Thursday. (Remember, Thursday is the new Friday in NYC!)
