Does Carnival Sail From Manhattan Or Brooklyn?

I am sailing on Carnival Miracle in June and I am not secure if it is leaving from Manhattan or Brooklyn.

The Yacht line terminal for Carnival is in Manhatten; the Miracle leave from there Monday June 1, 2009. Here's a coupling to the terminal: http://www.nycruise.com/

This link shows the cruise calendar for June and which boat ships leave from each terminal: http://www.nycruise.com/sched_2009.html#

What Is The Best/most Affordable Place To Get Sailing Lessons In New York City?

I'm looking for a good form b in situ to get quality beginners and intermediate sailing lessons at a good price in or around Manhattan (New York City). Please escape!!!

Why don't you just now join a club in South western Long Island (Just past Far Rockaway), it's cheaper, safer, they start inappropriate, so traffic won't be bad, and you'll have the whole Bay to yourselves, They use "Flying Scott's" to train with, so if you dunk them (and you will) they RIGHT patently, (they have a training boat that keeps an eye on you as well out there with you), there is a club behind Peters Clam Bar in Island Park.

Can You Sail/take A Boat From Greenwich CT To Upper East Side, Manhattan?

Can you really use your own boat?
How long would it take?

My dream is to keep a place on the Upper East Side and have a boat that goes to and from a surroundings home over there.
a motorboat I am talking about.
so the average speed of one.
Apparently it takes 30-45 minutes by car.

It's about 25-30 miles by saturate, with some slow areas probable around bridges, etc. You are probably looking at an hour minimum for the commute. (And recall the weather! Fog, rain and winter weather will make it longer.) You will also need a good sized (very likely 24' or larger) boat to handle the seas you could encounter. That will eat up fuel quickly. You'd almost be more off having a helicopter in your dream rather than a boat. If you insist on water travel, you might look into hovercraft. Look into this site about the Sevtec S.E.V. (surface effect vehicle) in the 20' length range. (Explorer) They also had plans for a 25', but I didn't see them on the locale. http://www.sevteckits.com/sevteckits/sev teckits.htm

How Different Do You Think America Would Be Had The Dutch Prevailed As A World Superpower?

In the very cock's-crow days of America, when the Spanish empire was dwindling, two nations were stepping up to the plate to dominance the world: England and Holland. While the Dutch did not show so much interest in America, they did populate what is now America's largest and most valuable city - New York. After Henry Hudson sailed for the Dutch West India associates and discovered the lands of New York, Dutch settlements were established and loosely regulated in Manhattan and neighboring areas. However, the Dutch cogitating little of this wilderness area, and instead focused on the true Indies, the East Indies and the lucrative work there.

The English on the other hand populated multiple areas to the North and South of New Amsterdam. England and Holland were rivals for decades, and the Dutch could have almost certainly take England on with their sea forces. However, the tide turned and England prevailed, and ruled the world for all but two centuries thereafter.
Anyway...back to the original question. How different do you think that America would be had the Dutch prevailed as the superpower in preference to of the English? Their philosophy of loose social regulation and business may have shaped a very different power.

Well, absolutely, this would have been so-o-o unlikely. The Dutch were a major power only commercially, not militarily -- it's inconceivable to me that they could have defeated the English in New York. In inside info, while those Dutch ships were out there the nation was struggling just to prevent Louis XIV from completely intriguing it over. I'd say that if there was a another western European power for the English to contend with at the time, it was the French.

But if the impossible had occurred, then Direct Sinatra's big hit would have been called "New Amsterdam, New Amsterdam"! Wouldn't have indubitably had the same ring to it.
