appropriate rates for two in manhattan end of june to first week in july. what to expect.
You should have booked much farther in push...June and July are prime tourist months in New York and all the "reasonable" hotels, B&Bs, hostels and YMCAs will unquestionably be booked solid by now.
I had to research some hotels for a vistor and here is the information I gave her. If you're lucky, there'll be an slot:
The Gershwin Hotel, which is in Chelsea (next door to Greenwich Village) has rooms with shared baths for $46.00. It's not the Ritz but you'd at least be in the urban district and the surrounding area is well lit, safe and close to public transportation. I would book this one as early as accomplishable as it's very popular.

Another one in Chelsea is the Colonial House Inn which looks lovely. http://www.colonialhouseinn.com/rates.ht m
$85.00 a nightfall with a shared bath.
The Pickwick Arms Hotel is $106.00 a night.

You would have to book through www.hotels.com to get the above rates.
Another option is a bed and breakfast I found on West 93rd Street, here in the city http://www.staythenight.com/ if you can get availability, they put on the market rooms for 75.00 a night based upon a 3 night stay. In some cases they will book for less depending upon their timetable.
The Efuru Guest House, which is right near Columbia University offers a flat at $85.00 a night with a shared bath and $115.00 with a private bath: http://www.efuru-nyc.com/pricelist.html< br />
I found a bed and breakfast in Astoria, Queens which is completely close to LaGuardia and also not that far from Manhattan by train, bus or cab. They have no online booking.
Astoria B&B
30-18 50th Street
Woodside Territory
Queens NY 11377

Innkeeper(s) Claudia and Theodor Damian
Rates: $60 - $80
My Mom And I Are In Desperate Need Of A Nice But Decently Priced Hotel In Manhattan?

for 2 days. we've tried all the hotel containerize deal sites and compared them to the room rates on the actual hotel website and we're really not getting a kind deal. whats the best way to go about getting reasonably priced hotels in manhattan? should we 86 the rove websites and go through a travel agency?
Cassie suggested truly what I was going to. call the hotels directly and speak to an agent and see if they can help you directly. If you belong to any associations they might be superior to discount or if it is an off time, they might be able to discount. Don't call the 800 numbers for chains, try to get the direct enumerate for the hotel in Manhattan.
edit: I just remembered... call the Hotel Larchmont. It is in Greenwich Village. Very decently priced but books quick.. Only downside, is depending on the room you may have to share a common bathroom but if that doesn't pain you (can't remember if they have private bathrooms too) than this is a great option.

I poverty a hotel room for about 10 days starting Sept. 8th or 9th. The only lthing I require is that the hotel is on the island of Manhattan, below 72nd st, reasonably wash up b purge and reasonable safe. Other than that, I'm looking for the lowest rates possible. Any suggestions anyone?
I mainstay at Hotel Pennsylvania...it's only 139.00 per night during week days...on 34th & 8th across from Penn Stattion/MSG...it also provide a adequate landmark in case you get lost too !
book it thru Hotels.com (best price I have seen thus far)
