Does anyone recognize of a lawyer not too expensive my husband has court coming up and needs counsel. These tickets are no major ones he is a merchandise driver and is basically for equipment and a permit that the truck did not have? Please give me names and numbers if you know of anybody Give you
 Since these are not serious tickets, I don't understand why he would need counsel. He certainly doesn't need a criminal attorney. He'll as likely as not have to pay a fine and be done with it.
Perhaps you could supply some more detail if I've misunderstood.

Can A Person Be Subject To Probation In Two Different Jurisdictions At The Same Time? |

I have a man who was convicted in two jurisdictions in NY City for two different offenses; Bronx County & NY County (Manhattan). He was placed on probation singly in each venue. He has been reporting to one probation officer NY County) who he assumed controlled both jurisdictions. Yet, he received a mind to appear in Bronx Criminal Court for failing to report to probation in the Bronx. Consequently, he was violated and imprisoned. Can he be impose on to probation in both jurisdictions simultaneously??
Probation is run by the shape, so the cases should have been combined. Apparently they both happened close enough together that neither county caught the other.
Your friend did not usurp his situation any by not advising his probation officer of the other incident.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The In harmony States transferred the first detainee from the Guantanamo Bay prison on Tuesday to stand trial in a U.S. civilian court in a examine case for President Barack Obama's plans to close the controversial prison for unfamiliar terrorism suspects.
Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian held at the U.S. naval wretched in Cuba since 2006 accused of involvement in the bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, arrived in New York escorted by U.S. marshals, the Pivot on of Justice said.
Ghailani faces 286 counts, including charges of conspiring with Osama bin Laden and other members of al Qaeda to cause the death of Americans anywhere in the world, and separate charges of murder for each of the 224 people killed in the bombings in Tanzania and Kenya on August 7, 1998.
He was to be arraigned in a Manhattan court at 4 p.m. EDT.
The transport was made three weeks after Obama laid out his plans for closing the Guantanamo camp by January 2010. The can, long a target of criticism by human rights groups, was opened in 2002 under President George W. Bush after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the Common States.
Bringing Ghailani to the United States and putting him on trial in a U.S. civilian court will exam Obama's contention that some of the around 240 detainees at the camp can be brought to trial in criminal cases and imprisoned in the Partnership States.

The department said there are currently 216 inmates in U.S. prisons who have some connecting to terrorism, including Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahmann and Ramzi Yousef, who were convicted in the 1993 Smashing Trade Center bombing, and Zacarias Moussaoui, who was convicted of conspiring with al Qaeda to fall planes into buildings as part of the September 11 attacks.
AFRICA BOMBINGS
Several of the charges against Ghailani, including mangle of U.S. employees at the embassies and use and attempted use of weapons of mass destruction against U.S. nationals, carry apogee sentences of death or life in prison.
Eleven people were killed and at least 85 were wounded in the embassy bombing in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and 213 people were killed in Nairobi, Kenya.

- those to be tried in revised military tribunals
- those whose freeing would pose a danger but cannot be cannot be prosecuted.
Human rights groups criticized Obama for leaving unhindered the option of trial in military tribunals -- which were set up under Bush -- and the possibility of puzzling detention.
Zachary Katznelson, legal director of Reprieve, a London-based band of human rights lawyers who work on Guantanamo cases said of the Ghailani occurrence:
"This should be a model for other cases as well. Suspects should be brought to civilian courts, which are tried and tested and which get the job done, rather to military courts where they are essentially making it up as they go along."
Ghailani is charged with serving to buy a truck and oxygen and acetylene tanks used in the Tanzania bombing, and of loading boxes of TNT, detonators, and other furnishings into the back of the truck in the weeks immediately before the bombing.
At a 2007 hearing at Guantanamo Bay to determine that he was an "contestant combatant," Ghailani confessed and apologized for supplying equipment used in the Tanzania bombing but said he did not be familiar with the supplies would be used to attack the embassy, according to military transcripts.
He told the Guantanamo discuss panel he bought the TNT used in the bombing, purchased a cell phone used by another individual involved in the attack and was present when a third person bought a truck used in the attack, the xerographic copy said.

What Should Happen To Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, Will He Receive A Lesser Sentence Than Madoff? |

Seeing as how he will be tried in the US Province Court in Manhattan, what should be his sentence assuming he's convicted. Bear in mind that with the case being under civilian Federal hegemony he will not receive the death penalty. Also, what would happen if he were to receive a lesser sentence than non-violent snowy collar criminal Bernie Madoff?
Personally, anything less than 150 years would be an outrage, an acquittal on the grounds of torture will be even more wicked.
He won't get the passing penalty if convicted.
How would anything less be justice?
Personally...I thing the trial is going to turn into a circus. They will have some idiot Unsparing/Socialist judge like Sotomayor on the bench and will chastise the government's case at every brief conversation. I give it a 50-50 chance of a mistrial. Hell, just the jury selection is going to go on for months.
