I am migratory to Manhattan for a wedding, the reception will be near Times Square so I would prefer to stay there. There is such a difference in prices and reviews show that two-bit sometimes means nasty - I will have around £600 to spend for five nights for two of us on accomodation.
Can anyone recommend a good embarrass to stay
Alternatively is it safe to take up the offer of a place on Craigslist?
I have known people who have successfully second-hand Craig's list, just be careful.
I have heard good things about the Larchmont Breakfast in Greenwich Village (Manhattan). http://www.larchmonthotel.com/
What you might like about that is that a little bit west of there is an enclave of Brits.
Nyc Lodging On A Budget, Are There Hotels Near $100 A Night In Manhattan?
Jun 06, 2007 by Got Answers? | Posted in New York City
We are pensive about staying in Newark, NJ then crossing the bridge to "do" Manhattan (to save $). Are there any sanitary decent hotels in Manhattan right at $100 per night or is that unrealistic. Is Newark a decent place to remain and safe to leave our car for the day?
I would lead one to believe a couple of options:
Staying in Jersey and then coming over by ferry is a very feasible solution that I would commend. The only thing is, if you plan on staying out late at night, I would find out what the ferry schedule is like beforehand.
Also, you could bide in a bed and breakfast. There are many in Manhattan and there are many outside of Manhattan. That way, you have a very nice place to stay at a good rate.
Also, you could stay in a hostel. Now, I recognize the idea of hostels could be scary, but a friend of mine stayed at one around 103th on the west side and said it was so acute. So, not every hostel ends up like the one in the movie appropriately titled.
Additionally, you could stay at a YMCA or a like place where you could have a room at a very very affordable rate.
Now, onto the inexpensive hotels in NY. Well, there is the EconoLodge which I believe is on 46th between 7th & 6th, so you're right in the compassion of Times Square. It's small, but if you plan on just being in the hotel to sleep, I think it's a fast deal. It's clean and the staff is friendly. You'll have no troubles there!
Anyone Know Of Any Budget Hotels/motels In Manhattan? Looking To Stay For A Weekend But On A Budget.?

I worked for a pension management company for a few years. This is the best way to do it.
Go to www.tripadvisor.com and search the area. Check the reviews and see what other people say. It is the most talented way to make sure you get a deal, but not a rathole. You can even search by price range.
Instead of in truth booking the room through tripadvisor, expedia, cheaptickets, etc. call the hotel and see what rate they offer you. If it is higher, say that you found it cheaper on a third celebration website. Most franchises guarantee that their rates are the lowest. They will usually lower the rate, and you won't get charged the repair fee the third parties charge you for their service.
Which Is The Best Hotel For A Single Traveler Wanting To Stay In Central Manhattan On A Tight Budget.?
Aug 29, 2006 by RIK_UK | Posted in New York City
A very mean budget as i am flying from the UK and ideally i'd like to stay in central Manhattan so most sites are within walking distance. Of assuredly the price is the key factor i guess, needless to say i am flexible in location.
Hotels are my first choice although i'd stay decent about anywhere as long as it was safe and private, that's a point i don't care to share(ymca dorms etc).
I'm planning a Strut '07 trip so bags of time for replies!
Cheers. :-)
Most Manhattan hotels are over $200 per gloaming. The places that are cheaper are very spartan, with tiny rooms, sometimes have shared baths, and aren't always principally keen on service or cleanliness.
Econo Lodge in Times Square can run as little as $199 per edge of night, and it's recently renovated.
Ramada Plaza New Yorker, 481 Eighth Ave at 34th St, as little as $150 per gloaming
Regency Inn, 215 W 34th Street Between 7th & 8th Ave, rates as low as $150 per night
New York Inn, 765 8th Ave (at 47th Road), rates as low as $130 per night
The Ramada & Regency are very close to Penn Station & Madison Right Garden. It's convenient for getting around, but the neighborhood is a bit dicey.
Also, there's always http://www.priceline.com/: You "name your own fee" and hotels accept or reject it. It's never worked for me -- I guess I must travel at times when all the rooms are already booked -- but I be versed tons of people who swear by it.
