Sarabeth's, one on the eastside, 90th st, westside in the 80's. Meet for kids or without.
French Toast-85th street, probably better without kids, can be a bit crowded, but all skilful places will be.
probably my favorite, in Soho - The Cupping Room, is ok for kids, but ok, alone.
America-15th Concourse off of 5th ave
The Coffee Shop- around Union Square, can't remember the address
