I heard that someone drove into the cafe on the Manhattan Beach Pier about a week ago. Does anyone recognize more about this?

Best Restaurant Manhattan Beach Los Angeles LAX 10pts For Best!?

We're staying at the Hilton LAX and they have out transportation to 3 places:

1. Manhattan Beach Pier
2. Manhattan Village
3. El Segundo Plaza

So we are going to have to get dinner at one of these locations. Can someone vouch for the best restaurant in one or all three of these locations? We'd like authentic Italian if possible, but we're open to anything that's sheltered (ie, no taco stands or hole in the wall joints since we have an international flight the next morning, don't prerequisite to take any chances.)

We also don't want to walk very far, so it would have to be in close proximity.

Thanks!!
If i can add one detail, I'd prefer a non-chain restaurant, something together!

Except for the pier enclosure, just about everything will be part of a chain of some sort. One of the best Italian restaurants is a few blocks from the El Segundo Plaza (El Segundo fair-minded west of Aviation). You might be able to talk them into dropping you off there but on a nice day, you can easily saunter it and it is a good neighborhood. The place is called IL Fornaio (the bakery) and is a small chain but you would not heed it. Once a month for at least two weeks, they feature foods of a different region (like a state in the US) and often meaning some of the ingredients. This is where the really unique and good stuff is. The wine list is good to nonpareil but can get pricey. Save room for dessert. For info, see http://ilfornaio.com/

I forget the name of it but in the Manhattan Village center next to the California Pizza Larder, there is a small Asian restaurant that is excellent. It has a large lunch clientele so you might want to hit it unprejudiced off the lunch hour or for dinner.

Rod + Reel Setup For DEEP Pier Fishing?? Something To Handle The Biggest Stuff At The Bottom Of The Piers?

specifically for the Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Huntington Beach, CA piers

something that can pat sharks, big bat rays, and that would be able to handle the big boys when i go out boat fishing? thanks and god supply

there is no broad pier fishing on those piers maximum depth is no more that 17 -20 feet. Sorry! But if you want a rod for craft fishing for sharks and rays then a five footer for tuna set up with a pen and you wont need more than forty pound assay but you will need to change your leaders to as high as 80 pound. as far as for the piers I use a 6'6" severe action pitching stick and a trolling (level wind) with twelve pound on one, ten pound on one and eight drub into on the last they are all trilene green X T and the twelve is big game and I have had sharks and rays up to a 100 pounds without breaking or wearing out my fixtures. But! the halibut are right under every one of those piers and fishing for them back in the shadows is about as good as it gets when the surf isn't too exuberant and the current isn't raging. I averaged 20 legal halibut a year up till I got my Ranger, all off the piers.
