How Much Will It Cost To Take A Cab From Newark Airport To My Hotel In Midtown Manhattan?
Apr 12, 2007 by marion_luke | Posted in New York City
It's the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Midtown East - 866 Third Avenue. It's on Third Ave. between East 52nd and 53rd St.
Im not common to give you our rates, that way Im not accused of solicitaiton. LOL
"From Newark Airport to Manhattan, the taxi fare is a set fee increased by round trip tolls. From Newark Airport to
Battery Park to West 34th Drive: $40.00
West 35th Street to West 58th Street: $45.00
West 59th Street to West 109th Concourse: $50.00
West 110th Street to West 185th Street: $55.00
North of 185th Drive: $60.00
New York/LaGuardia Airport: $65.00
New York/Kennedy Airport: $75.00
There is an additional charge of $5.00 for all destinations on the east side of Manhattan between Battery Store and 185th Street"
These are the rates for the Newark Airport Taxi stands of Yellow or Pale taxis run by Newark NJ & Elizabeth NJ Taxi Commissions. Tolls into Manhattan are $6 to register Manhattan only.
So, it would be $40 + $6 tolls = $46 to go to Battery Park during regular hours.
In rush hour, which ususally starts around 3pm, it would be $40 + $6 tolls + $5 surcharge = $51. The tip is not included in these totals.
Usual to JFK or LaGuardia you would be charged $15 in Round trip tolls, plus the surcharge if you were traveling during rush hour. I certain some folks would say take the 59th st bridge but NJ cabs will not want to fight traffic going to 59th st when they can take you straight across township to from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Midtown Tunnel or accross the GWB to the Triboro. $9 round trip to join the Midtown Tunnel or Triboro Bridge.
"Taxis also operate from the airport at flat rates based on goal. From the City of New York, fares are set by New York City's Taxi and Limousine Commission. From New York City, the taxi traveller shall be the metered rate plus a surcharge of $15.00 plus the cost of by a circular trip tolls. This is approximately $40 to $75 depending on the exact origin. Newark Licence is the only exception to the rule that a New York City taxi driver may refuse to take a passenger to any destination casing the five boroughs."
A taxi from NJ can pick you up from JFK or LaGuardia by appointment only. Rates vary. I propose calling companies in towns closest to NYC like: Fort Lee, Secaucus, Jersey Diocese, Hoboken, or Teaneck. Chances are, if the company has a drop off at one of those airports you can make an appointment to get picked up around the go away off time.
You can go to the following sites to find a taxi/cab in NJ:
Scarcely type these keywords: taxi + name of town in NJ
As far as going into NJ towns from Manhattan, I believe you can call a NJ cab to pick you up by position only since NYC cabbies can refuse to take you anywhere other than Newark Airport in NJ. The TLC only prohibits cabs without the TLC medallion from picking up passengers on the circle who hail a cab.
There are also some things to look for on a cab at Newark Airport to make sure they are licensed:
Plates:
OXY Taxi-cub
OXX
OL Limousine (not DL which is the Organ Donor plate)
What Is The Manhattan Inn, Midtown, New York Like?

I am customary to New York with my Class, i was just wondering what our hotel will be like.
The Manhattan Inn isn't a hotel, it's a child hostel - some rooms are dormitory style - bunk beds and shared by as many as 8 people. I be familiar with absolutely nothing about it, but you will be near the subway and the bus - very close to Madison Square Garden and Penn Place. You can read what other people have to say about the Manhattan Inn. The rates are very, very good.
