How To Park In NYC Manhattan, And Using Parking Garages? |
This will be my first nevertheless driving in NYC, and I've been scouting out parking garages near my destination. Price is not an issues, but:
How do I use the parking garages?
Are they like parking garages everywhere else?
How do valets trade? Do I just drive up to the entrance and someone takes my car?
Frankly, I'm a bit nervous about both trying to navigate NYC transportation while also trying to navigate into a parking garage with customs I'm unfamiliar with.

My partner, save the headache of driving and parking in Manhattan and take public transit instead. You can park you car face the city and take the train into the City.
Parking in a garage is as simple as going to the service position to refill you car.
For self-service garages, just drive up to the entrance, get a ticket from the ticket implement and finding a parking space to park your car. Hold on to your ticket, because you need to find your car. Each lot is numbered.
When you're eager to leave the garage, just drive out of the space and follow the exit sign. You will mind a little booth at the exit, give you ticket to the attendant and he/she will calculate how much it will cost to park in the garage, most of the time between $15 to $20 a day.Pay the attadent, get a receipt and exit.
For non-self service garage, even-handed drive up to the entrance and the parking agent will take you car to an available space. You will get a ticket tell you where rank is your car located.
When you're ready to leave, just give the parking agent your ticket and he will retrieve you car from the break. Don't forget to pay the attendant the fee for park you car after receiving it.
Again, parking out the city is a lot easy than driving into the Bishopric. There are plenty of parking facility near major commuter rail lines where you can leave your can and take the train.
Depending where you're coming from, may I recommend a few locations.
Upstate and New England -- if you coming from these areas, you can greens at one of the many Metro-North commuter rail station and take the train to Grand Central. Below is a roster of station with large parking facilities
