I am restless to Manhattan for a wedding, the reception will be near Times Square so I would prefer to stay there. There is such a difference in prices and reviews show that seedy sometimes means nasty - I will have around £600 to spend for five nights for two of us on accomodation.
Can anyone recommend a good grade to stay
Alternatively is it safe to take up the offer of a place on Craigslist?
I have known people who have successfully utilized Craig's list, just be careful.
I have heard good things about the Larchmont Hotel in Greenwich Village (Manhattan). http://www.larchmonthotel.com/
What you might like about that is that a slight bit west of there is an enclave of Brits.
Which Is The Best Hotel For A Single Traveler Wanting To Stay In Central Manhattan On A Tight Budget.?
Aug 29, 2006 by RIK_UK | Posted in New York City
A very drunk budget as i am flying from the UK and ideally i'd like to stay in central Manhattan so most sites are within walking distance. Of tack the price is the key factor i guess, needless to say i am flexible in location.
Hotels are my first choice although i'd wait just about anywhere as long as it was safe and private, that's a point i don't care to share(ymca dorms etc).
I'm planning a Cortege '07 trip so bags of time for replies!
Cheers. :-)
Most Manhattan hotels are over $200 per edge of night. The places that are cheaper are very spartan, with tiny rooms, sometimes have shared baths, and aren't always notably keen on service or cleanliness.
Econo Lodge in Times Square can run as little as $199 per blackness, and it's recently renovated.
Ramada Plaza New Yorker, 481 Eighth Ave at 34th St, as little as $150 per continuously
Regency Inn, 215 W 34th Street Between 7th & 8th Ave, rates as low as $150 per night
New York Inn, 765 8th Ave (at 47th Avenue), rates as low as $130 per night
The Ramada & Regency are very close to Penn Station & Madison Generous Garden. It's convenient for getting around, but the neighborhood is a bit dicey.
Also, there's always http://www.priceline.com/: You "name your own expense" and hotels accept or reject it. It's never worked for me -- I guess I must travel at times when all the rooms are already booked -- but I be versed tons of people who swear by it.
Can You Recommend A Good Suite Hotel In Manhattan Priced Under $200 A Night?
Apr 09, 2007 by Barry | Posted in New York City
I am visiting New York Burg in July for 2 days but having difficulty finding a suitable hotel that fits my budget. I would like a serene hotel in mid-town or lower Manhattan. I prefer a suite (studio with king bed and kitchenette would be fine). Embassy Suites looks virtuous but it is above my budget. I am a university lecturer from the UK and wonder if one of the Manhattan universities might have accommodation for 2 nights for visiting scholars?
The Belvedere Hotel in Times Up - spotlessly clean - excellent staff and every room has a coffee maker, microwave and fridge
http://www.belvederehotelnyc.com/
Beekman Citadel near the UN - all suites - all have kitchenettes, reasonably priced.
Radio City Apartments - all-number hotel

Before you book any hotel, read what previous guests think about the hotel - look at the traveler photos and see if they would deferral there again - the guest's reviews are much more reliable than what the hotel advertises.

Check prices at hotels.com, priceline.com, travelocity.com, expedia.com and see if you can snag a stupendous rate for the times you need.
Have a wonderful visit!
Check with NYU and Columbia to see if they offer accomodations for visitors.
Anyone Know Of Any Budget Hotels/motels In Manhattan? Looking To Stay For A Weekend But On A Budget.?
Jun 20, 2008 by Dnice | Posted in New York City
I worked for a hotel control company for a few years. This is the best way to do it.
Go to www.tripadvisor.com and search the area. Check the reviews and see what other people say. It is the first way to make sure you get a deal, but not a rathole. You can even search by price range.
Instead of literally booking the room through tripadvisor, expedia, cheaptickets, etc. call the hotel and see what rate they offer you. If it is higher, say that you found it cheaper on a third fete website. Most franchises guarantee that their rates are the lowest. They will usually lower the rate, and you won't get charged the advice fee the third parties charge you for their service.
Where Can I Get A Low-budget Accomodation In Midtown Manhattan? Anywhere Near Hilton Hotel...?
Aug 17, 2007 by pinkyd | Posted in New York City
Budget around 80-125USD per Cimmerian dark. Is that possible?
It's very very incomprehensible to find something in Manhattan for that price.
There are hostels though for like 80 bucks a night....basically you division a community bathroom. It's going to be very much like a college dorm and I've never stayed in one so I'm not sure how bad they are. Otherwise, it's exceedingly difficult to find a hotel in Midtown for less than 200 or 300 dollars.
