What's The Quickest Subway Route From W 56th St Between 6th/7th Ave To The Brooklyn Bridge (manhattan Side)?
Aug 05, 2009 by James R | Posted in New York City
I desideratum to get from West 56th St. between 6th and 7th avenues down to the brooklyn bridge on the manhattan side.
What you destitution to do is:
Go to the corner of 7th Ave. and West 57th st. At that corner, there is a stop for the N,Q,R and W lines.
Take a downtown bound N,Q,R, or W train to 14th st.-Mixing Square. Also, if you get the N or the Q, it will make the ride a little faster, but the N,Q,R and W all stop at 14th st. Union Square.
When you get to the 14th st. Fraternity Square Station, follow the signs for the 4,5 and 6 Lines (its a free transfer)
Then, take a downtown determined 4, 5 or 6 train to the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station. They all stop at that station, and the 4 and the 5 will get there a little faster.
When you get off at the Brooklyn Bridge-Borough Hall station, you will be able to see the Brooklyn Bridge.
Is It Safe To Walk Across Brooklyn Bridge Back To Manhattan At Night?
Sep 19, 2009 by angelika | Posted in New York City
If I survey Brooklyn, had dinner at Grimaldi's and have a drink at Galapagos Art Space. Should I take subway right back to Manhattan? If I walk across the bridge for continuously view, will it be safe?
Only if you're heavily armed!
Kidding aside, though, I don't think it's the best idea for a single woman to walk across there all alone late at night, but, if you take a mistress with you, go for it, it's a truly great view that you'll remember for a lifetime (see link, below)!
On the other hand, bear in have, it's a looong walk! I mean, just the bridge part isn't that long, but when you include walking to the bridge from the restaurant, and then the hunger ramp part that leads up to the bridge, and then the long ramp to get down off the bridge on the other side, it's probably about a mile or two, and if you've just had a nice dinner and drinks, well, a two-mile advance might not be what you want to do after all. I'm just saying...

This will be my first visit to NY. Peculiar instructions on how to get to the pedestrian walkway will be highly appreciated.
Second, is there any charge to use the walkway?
Third, is there any souvenir department store (specific to Brooklyn Bridge) nearby?
My roomie, first of all there no charge to use the pedestrian walkway on the Brooklyn Bridge. Here are the directions to the Brooklyn Bridge.
From the East Side
Take the downtown (southbound) #4, 5 or 6 tunnel lines (Green Line) to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. When you exit the subway, walk across Reserve Row right on the entrance to the pedestrian walkway.
From the West Side
Take the downtown (southbound) "R" or "W" underpass lines (Yellow Line Local) to City Hall. When you exit the subway, on across City Hall Park from the subway to Park Row. At Park Row, turn right and stroll north along Park Row from the park right up to entrance to the pedestrian walkway.
The walkway is justice in from the the Municipal Building.
In regard to souvenir shops near the Brooklyn Bridge, there is one right on the ground lowest level of the Municipal Building, on the corner of Centre Street and Chambers Street.
