What Is The Best Synagogue For Young People In Manhattan?
Jan 17, 2009 by Laurel | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
I am looking for a conservative synagogue in Manhattan that is illusory for young single people. I am really open to any affiliation and particularly am looking for one on the East Side.
Dance the synagogue and take some college classes on critical thinking. :)
Where Can I Find A Good Synagogue That Holds Great Friday Night Services For Manhattan Singles?

I have heard there is one in the Loftier West Side but I wasn't sure which temple.
Congregation B'nai Jeshurun, located on the Higher West Side, is very popular amongst single Jewish young adults. (Yes, it is called Congregation BJ, heh heh heh.)
Sadly Non-hypothetical... Should You Start To Attend A Synagogue Where You Have A Slight Crush On The Rabbi?

So there is this synagogue in New York called Beth Simchat Torah, a mostly LGBT synagogue in Manhattan I had found out about from a documentary called Jews of New York. I had only caught the end and a unfledged female rabbi explaining her synagogue and remember thinking she was pretty. Recently I met her up in Albany for some gay rights point and told her she looked familiar and when she told me where I knew her from I was like, kick ass, I'd like to succeed to service someday, because I'm a convert and I want to go to my first service somewhere where I think I'd be comfortable.
She gave me the in info and I said I'd try to come. However I still think she's very pretty. Should I start to attend a synagogue when I have a slight smash on the rabbi?
Fembot- an 8, personality wise, a 10.
I'd want to go to the synagogue even if she wasn't rabbi.
Bad reason, straight or gay, especially if the rabbi in question is attached already. It's a good way to make a spectacle of yourself (at greatest) and disrupt an entire congregation (at worst). I'd find another synagogue.
I will also point out that, just because she's a rabbi at a synagogue that has a beamy GLBT membership, it doesn't necessarily follow that SHE is any of those things. So at the very least, tread carefully.
Whatever you settle on, I hope you find a synagogue that suits YOU - that's ultimately what matters.
Edit: Ok - I didn't realize you were only 15 :-) In that container, don't worry about it. A rabbi who can't deal with a 15-year-old with a crush is someone I'd be WORRIED about, and after looking the congregation up online, she seems to have her governor on straight. Go for it :-)
This is a synagogue on east 85th and Lexington that was enthusiastic today. Over 110 years old, it's sad, my condolences to anyone who attends this ...
