How Can I Get A Job As A Pre-school Teacher (NY/NJ)?

Ok. I'm looking for a full-be that as it may career as a pre-school teacher in New York City (Manhattan/Brooklyn) or New Jersey (Newark/Irvington, East Orange, other places) and I am wondering how one goes about conclusion a teaching position in these areas? Should I apply directly to individual schools or is there a website I can go to? Are there pre-school fairs? Do you skilled in anything about applying to head start or pre-k in public schools? I'll be receiving my Masters in Early Girlhood/Special Ed. in May 2008. Thanks for your serious replies.

Since you don't graduate until May you should go ahead a get your fingerprinting out of the way which may take awhile and with the laws getting stricter until you d your back ground check many places won't place you, yet.
Also if you have time see if you can volunteer in the centers you would like to business in. My degree required so many practical hours, so you may have already done this but its worth a shot.
I have a BFA and I was intellectual about becoming an art teacher, but I want to work with kids, pre-school or elementary because it sounds fun. Do I need a degree in training or a certification? I live in manhattan. Thanks.
Pula...That sounds so stupid (not you, but that). You need a doctorate to tutor a four year old how to make art? You need to defend yourself in front of a panel? Do I need to write a hundred page opinion paper on how to use a crayon and draw a house? I don't know, what you are saying may be true, but I'll need a alternative opinion.
Are You kidding me. You skilled in teachers today havee their doctorate or are just shy a few credits even if they teach 4 year olds.
If you deliberate on it wil be fun you could never be so wrong. Imagine for a moment that you are reponsible for your first grade children and how fast they move from one area to the next. Then infer that you had to develop lessons to target the classes improvement in that area. Now you are not expected but required to go further, you deprivation to pull a small group of children who still find this a struggle and teach them a new strategy. Finally, you are expected to suitable with them on an individual basis to ensure that those still not able to do may in fact get to the ever important meeting area unpack, touched by to their math message, copy their HW and shop for books in under 6 minutes. OH MY GOD!
Noe imagine that you are required to fight for you life so to speak infront of a pannel that looks into "HELPING" you. Assume trust to me you don't want that. You get to come in early and report each and every finding to your AP on your owm time.

Should I Do My Nursing Or Physician Assistant Pre-Req's At A Community College Or A More Respected University?

I already have a BS in Vivid Design from Northeastern University in Boston. I need about 2 years of pre req's before applying to a Physicians Partner Masters program or an RN program and I would like to do at at an inexpensive Community College located not far off my work in Manhattan. Will that make it harder to get into good schools? I am presently working in a medical business gaining great clinical experience as a counselor.
I expect that if you are going to go to school for a Registered Nurses license, then the community college is fine...but if you are going to try to get into a masters program somewhere, I would judge you should probably go to a University.
The quality of education at a CC is lacking in my opinion. "You get what you pay for." However, there are some programs at a CC that are specifically designed for nursing students that are enormous.
I guess what I would do in your position is to find a few of the Masters programs you want to apply to for the Physicians Asst and see what their access requirements are as far as undergrad degrees..and then email or call one of the professors and tell them that you are having trouble deciding whether it is more advisedly to go to a CC or a Uni. They can help you with that decision.
