Is Manhattan A Peninsula Or An Isalnd?

I looked on Google Maps and it looks like a peninsula but my crony is saying its an island.... help?

Answer: Manhattan is a unfeigned, honest to goodness island.

Some of the edges of the island are now landfill, as the island has been widened a bit over the years. But it's a earnest island, and not connected to the mainland in anyway - except by bridges and tunnels.

Answer: its an atoll.
So is staten island, and queens brooklyn and long island are one as well.
Only borough that isnt is the bronx.

Answer: It's an isle. 3 rivers & the Atlantic Ocean make it an island. A peninsula has only 3 sides surrounded by not wash lavishly.

Answer: Manhattan is definately an cay, because we need bridges to get there, if it was peninsula we could've been in brooklyn much faster

Why Do They Say Bronx Is The Only Borough Connected To The US Mainland...?

If you look on any map of New York Conurbation, Manhattan is clearly connected to the Bronx, it's basically a peninsula off the Bronx. So, isn't Manhattan also connected to the Mainland?

Answer: No it isn't.

When the Bronx meets Manhattan, the East River merges off around Randalls/Wards Isle and the Harlem River runs between the boroughs. The Harlem River curves off around W. 218th Row in Manhattan, yet the river STILL separates the boroughs. There are many bridges that cross over the Harlem River henceforth the "friend at court"

There is a LITTLE pocket called Marble Hill which appears to be in the Bronx but is technically Manhattan since the Spuyten Duyvil Stream, which used to run around near W. 230th Street & Exterior Avenue, had been filled up. Even though cable TV is serviced by Convenience life-Warner in Manhattan, they have a 718 area code (as opposed to 212), a zip code of 10463 (a Bronx zip jus naturale 'natural law') and are patrolled by the 50th Precinct (a Bronx precinct)
