First all at once in New York and a little aprehensive about getting around with a 7 month old baby in tow. Something fast and convenient. Bus? Coach? Cab is out of the question as we would be left with a car seat and no place to store it at the Nets game we are going to.
take 161 paterson bus from Refuge Authority fare is 3.40 for adults a small child is free and it leaves you at the arena.
outing is 13 minutes.
How Much Would A Cab Ride Cost From North Bergen, NJ, Tonnelle Ave To Manhattan?
Jan 09, 2009 by krumenager | Posted in New York City
Planning to go to NYC but can't produce hotels in Manhattan. Other questions:
Is North Bergen safe?
How long would the drive be from the hotel to Manhattan?
How much would a cab control cost from North Bergen, NJ, Tonnelle Ave to Manhattan?
-A minimum of $30 plus $8.00 ($6.00 off-hill with E-ZPass) in tolls. If you hit heavy traffic, that could double to $60 or more.
Is North Bergen unhurt?
-Yes! I had friends who liked and lived there until they could afford to move to Long Island. Weehawken isn't too far away as well and is 5 minutes away from NYC via ferry.
How big would the drive be from the hotel to Manhattan?
-Normally 30 minutes but if you have traffic, it could take up to an hour. If you're in a taxi, you'll be throwing your bucks away on waiting time unless the driver is nice enouh to give you a flat fee.
Tips:
Flagrant/Private Shuttles to cut taxi fare.

Weekhawken NJ hotel. Is it cheaper than yours in North Bergen? If so, for $5, you can be back in NYC on the ferry.

Best Way To Get To Manhattan (8th Ave And 49th St) From JFK Hotels?
Apr 27, 2009 by All in A-Z | Posted in New York City
Combine of questions/details:
1. My Hotel shuttle could drop me to any terminal on JFK for free, is that where i could board air train?
2. After boarding the air entourage which route/subway should I take to get to 8th ave and 49th st as my NY city tour bus boards at that intersection.
3. How safe it is to come back after subfuscous to JFK from Manhattan riding the same subway I ride in the morning?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Sorry I forgot to note it's a weekend trip, does both A and E operates the same route on weekday and weekend?
The hotel commute you'll be taking will drop off at the Federal Circle Airtrain station. Take the Airtrain that is going to Jamaica Railway station (listen for the platform announcement "Station D: Jamaica Station").
Once at Jamaica Position, take the Manhattan-bound (westbound) "E" train to 50th Street. When you get there exit the subway and accompany a block south along 8th Avenue from 50th Street to 49th Street.
In regard to how safe is the subway. Its justifiable, but my advice, if you're traveling back to the airport between the hours of 12am and 7am, ride in the conductor's car, which is located in the middle sample of the train (the 4th car from the front). You will get easy access to the escalator at Sutphin Blivd-JFK/Jamaica Station.
Also, debris alert and don't fall asleep on the train, because you'll miss your stop and sleeping passengers are prime quarry for pick pockets.
How Much Will It Cost To Take A Cab From Newark Airport To My Hotel In Midtown Manhattan?
Apr 12, 2007 by marion_luke | Posted in New York City
It's the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Midtown East - 866 Third Avenue. It's on Third Ave. between East 52nd and 53rd St.
Im not common to give you our rates, that way Im not accused of solicitaiton. LOL
"From Newark Airport to Manhattan, the taxi fare is a set fee bonus round trip tolls. From Newark Airport to
Battery Park to West 34th Alley: $40.00
West 35th Street to West 58th Street: $45.00
West 59th Street to West 109th Roadway: $50.00
West 110th Street to West 185th Street: $55.00
North of 185th Drive: $60.00
New York/LaGuardia Airport: $65.00
New York/Kennedy Airport: $75.00
There is an additional charge of $5.00 for all destinations on the east side of Manhattan between Battery Estate and 185th Street"
These are the rates for the Newark Airport Taxi stands of Yellow or Innocent taxis run by Newark NJ & Elizabeth NJ Taxi Commissions. Tolls into Manhattan are $6 to enlist Manhattan only.
So, it would be $40 + $6 tolls = $46 to go to Battery Park during regular hours.
In rush hour, which ususally starts around 3pm, it would be $40 + $6 tolls + $5 surcharge = $51. The tip is not included in these totals.
Wealthy to JFK or LaGuardia you would be charged $15 in Round trip tolls, plus the surcharge if you were traveling during charge hour. I know some folks would say take the 59th st bridge but NJ cabs will not want to fight traffic accepted to 59th st when they can take you straight across town to from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Midtown Tunnel or accross the GWB to the Triboro. $9 completion trip to cross the Midtown Tunnel or Triboro Bridge.
"Taxis also perform from the airport at flat rates based on destination. From the City of New York, fares are set by New York Bishopric's Taxi and Limousine Commission. From New York City, the taxi fare shall be the metered position plus a surcharge of $15.00 plus the cost of round trip tolls. This is take $40 to $75 depending on the exact origin. Newark Liberty is the only exception to the mainly that a New York City taxi driver may refuse to take a passenger to any destination outside the five boroughs."
A cab from NJ can pick you up from JFK or LaGuardia by appointment only. Rates vary. I suggest calling companies in towns closest to NYC like: Fort Lee, Secaucus, Jersey Town, Hoboken, or Teaneck. Chances are, if the company has a drop off at one of those airports you can make an appointment to get picked up around the doff off time.
You can go to the following sites to find a taxi/cab in NJ:
By a hair's breadth type these keywords: taxi + name of town in NJ
As far as going into NJ towns from Manhattan, I believe you can call a NJ cab to pick you up by rendezvous only since NYC cabbies can refuse to take you anywhere other than Newark Airport in NJ. The TLC only prohibits cabs without the TLC medallion from picking up passengers on the circle who hail a cab.
There are also some things to look for on a cab at Newark Airport to make sure they are licensed:

OXY Hack
OXX
OL Limousine (not DL which is the Organ Donor plate)
