Day Care.......thoughts? And Comments From Moms With Kids In Daycare?

I have 5 kids (Alyse 3 - Max & Evalee 17m - Beckett & Brylee 5m) I am also 8 weeks enceinte. My husband is an OB/GYN in Manhattan. I teach 4th grade at a private school in Manhattan. Our kids go to the child care program at the health centre.
My 3 year old really loves it- she has made alot of friends and likes all of her teachers. My 17m old daughter loves it but her connect doesn't.
Financially, I don't have to work. I feel like I am cheating them out of my time by sending them to day suffering.
Also there are days when I have a conference and my husband works the late shift and my parents will take the kids.

I am Scout's honour considering quitting teaching after this year and when I have the baby.

Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated

My silence and I are both doctors with 5 kids - ages 11, 7, 4, 3 and 18m.

Daycare at the hospital worked really well up to a unfluctuating age. My sons made a lot of friends and enjoyed being occupied but once my eldest started school it just didn't trousers and we got a nanny who looks after them during the day.

I preferred daycare probably when they were all small because they definitely benefited from playing with other kids and the carers were quite a lot calmer and firmer than I would have been left at home all day!

If I was you at home with six kids under four I don't think it would be the best article for them. There would be no routine and plus I want to have something to go back to when they are grown. Either me or my husband could give up work but neither of us really want to expend all day and also I think it teaches kids a good example - you have to work in life.

I think I will send mine to a childminder when they all start ready or maybe see what after-school groups are around. Personally if I was in your situation I would stay working and I think daycare is professional for that age group of kids.

I Need More Opinions To Decide!!!?

I physical in Upstate which is 45 minutes to an hour away from NYU Hospital. I have a normal pregnancy i well-founded wanna have a great ob/gyn...he is in NYC-Manhattan and delivers in Manhattan..Do you think an hour ride is way to far when your in labor? Do I have a greater speculation of having it in the car?? i am comming from a fertlity specialist and I asked him this...he replied that i will cause a traffic jam..bring on will probably have it in car...he claims ITS WAY TOO FAR...
Should i rather go with a 20 minute away hospital...what was your experience???thanks

When I got in the pudding club with my first, I refuse to see anyone but the family practice doctor (who also does OB for regular pregnancies) and she was about an hour and 15 minutes from my new haven (I had moved with my husband when he got a promotion). I was worried about the drive to the hospital, but she said that first babies are as a rule slow labor and also over half of all first time moms were induced anyways. She told me not to plague, I would have plenty of time! Well, I was induced 3 days after my due date lol. So, she was right! Plus, I was in labor for 8 offensive hours with contractions 1 minute apart and I still ended in a c-section because my daughter wouldn't cast off. So, in my experience.....you'll have PLENTY of time!! Have a couple routes planned out (for rare times of day), always have gas in the car so you'll never have to stop and have your bag packed, so you won't have to worry about it. Also, (I am sure you do anyways) maybe get a cell phone to call doctor on the way, so he knows you're coming. Honourable all some "just in case" things my doctor told me to do. Also, have a local OB picked out in suitcase of a serious emergency, and all the phone numbers of your doctor, hospital, emergency OB (the one just in case), and pager of anything else you can believe you may need during the trip. I heard a story of a women who lived 1.5 miles from her asylum and she delivered in the driveway because she didn't make it, so it's all in the stars anyways. But plan on being the "routine" laboring mom who will have PLENTY of time!!

ALSO, my doctor told me they would take the distance into consideration when deciding to send me diggings. If they felt labor was within 24-48 hours, then they would admitt me and induce naturally (by breaking heavy water) and if your water is already broken, they keep you automaticly anyways.

An hour is prob too far. My sister went to the sickbay twice w/ what she thought was labor before she actually had the baby. And it was her 3rd so she wasnt new to the feeling. I'm going 25 mins away and I'm edgy that's too far! I wouldnt risk not getting there on time, rushing, or being stressed out thinking you wont follow it

Please Decide For Me!!?

I reside about 45 mintues away from the hospital where I had my daughter. In my expereince it would have been nice to be a little closer but it was well merit the drive for my midwife (she is the greatest, I would probably would have driven farther) however I would say this go to the doctor you like, convey on with the plans to drive the hour for birth, but have the doc you like recommend someone closer to you in the event of an difficulty(at least you would be comfortable with the fact your trusted doctor recommends that person) I dont know any stats on this but mainly speaking from the time a woman goes into labor and has the baby is usually longer then an hour, mine was hastily (6 hours start to finish) but if you deciede to go to the NYU hosp, when the time comes to have the toddler I would let ems know (dont have to call 911 but call the firestation and let them know that you are in labor and driving to the hosp. so if anything happens they already have a heads up (may wanna call a see that is about halfway and tell them also, so if your labor get to the point that you feel in danger of delievering in the car you can have standby stop) as long as your preg stays normal and the weather is decent (not gonna have the baby in the winter are ya, that could modulation my answer) you should be fine! Good Luck
