My favorite Mexican restaurant is Del Valle on Tenth Avenue and 48th Boulevard. It's very plain, spotlessly clean and has authentic food from Puebla, Mexico (near Mexico Big apple) - the food's delicious, the portions are large and it's very inexpensive. (great seafood soup).

I dearth to take my dad and brother out when they visit this weekend, so nothing too expensive but the place definitely doesn't need to be bargain-priced. And they love real authentic Mexican food. I live on 90th street so anyone know a good appointment in the area???

La Palapa in the east village has eminent margaritas as well as good food. They recently opened up another branch in the west village.

The unsurpassed is still Rosa Mexicano, but that's not in Lower Manhattan. Of course, depending on your definition of Lower Manhattan, La Palapa isn't there either.

Maryanne's in Chelsea is in actuality good-some of the best guacamole I've ever had. Centrico is pretty amazing for a more upscale Mexican place. They have a choclate sweet with maiz ice cream that is incredible. Here's the info-Centrico: 211 W Broadway, New York, NY‎ - (212) 431-0700‎.
