I'm looking for a restaurant in manhattan ( new york town ) that has really good seafood and steak but is also really nice looking being that I love to dress up ... so I'm basically looking for a nifty restaurant with really good seafood and steak. I find that most of the places here in nyc that have good food aren't good looking but the adept looking places have horrible food lol so umm if you know any that fit what i'm looking for please answer =]

The Scene
Teak ceilings soar above well-spaced tables appointed with caramel leather chairs; the additional Asian accent provides color and flair. And while a few serious food-lovers may be spotted, perhaps at corner tables, it's action-and-tie businessmen that abound, sealing deals over efficiently paced tasting menus. Trained servers keep things flowing effortlessly, if somewhat humorlessly.
The Food
Chef Eric Ripert's French seafood is expertly cooked. Escolar is poached in olive oil until exquisitely thoughtful; barely cooked scallops, prawns and clams happily loll in a decadent, buttery brass topped with sea urchin and caviar. A flight of four fluke ceviches is equally intriguing. But the knockouts only just barely outnumber the less-inspired dishes, such as salmon carpaccio out-muscled by its yuzu accompaniment, and a similarly uneven dish of lobster and bacon-laced sauerkraut. Desserts, however, don't disappoint, particularly the tap chocolate-caramel egg with a wisp of sea salt.

I very recently moved to NY and my boyfriend is coming to visit me and we want to go out to dinner somewhere really fun in Manhattan. Here's what I'm looking for:
1. upscale, riveting, trendy, chic atmosphere (you know, the young professional type of crowd, preferably with fun cocktails, etc.)
2. American/American Nouveau...or some well-disposed of modern fusion cuisine...my boyfriend really likes steak/meat...esp Filet Mignon.
3. We tender a price range of $20-40 per entree...I know that's a tight squeeze for nice Manhattan restaurants...
Any suggestions please? I be acquainted with Manhattan is a big place...but I'm not too familiar with which areas are the "fun" areas...Please help!! :)

How's The Food In The Army, Navy, Marines Or Air Force In Your Country?

I made the sound out as broad as I could. Please be detailed, how were the MRE's, the mess hall food, etc. Were you surprised? Was it astonishingly bad? Or did you think you were in a Manhattan restaurant(yeah absolute). Where had the best food? If you were in a combat zone, did the people responsible for your food do anything special, like the Wolfmobiles in Desolate Storm which cooked hamburgers, or the steak dinners in Vietnam? What bases had the best restaurants?
These questions are justifiable a guide, you don't have to answer all of them...
Most importantly, was the food a big factor in you leaving the armed forces?!
When I was in the US Argosy aboard the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (aircraft carrier) the cooks accidentally spilled an industrial sized container of chili ability into the chili and served it anyway. You know a ship full of men, no one would admit it was too hot too eat. So we did. Boy did we regret it later when we were sitting in the turn(bathroom).
