if you're enthusiastic to go high-end, i think hands-down it's Le Bernardin. It's one of the best restaurants in NY with a strong focus on seafood--innovative preparation with top-knotch ingredients. While he has branched out into a broader rove of protein at Le Bernardin, Chef Ripert is well known for his exquisite ability with fish. Grounded in French skill, but lots of Latin and Japanese influences, Ripert is particularly a master of raw and barely cooked seafood...staggering. You can find the official site below, which has links to his menu....
Attractive Looking Seafood And Steak Restaurant In New York City?
Dec 14, 2008 by Chantal P | Posted in New York City
I'm looking for a restaurant in manhattan ( new york see ) that has really good seafood and steak but is also really nice looking being that I love to dress up ... so I'm basically looking for a brilliant restaurant with really good seafood and steak. I find that most of the places here in nyc that have good food aren't good looking but the competent looking places have horrible food lol so umm if you know any that fit what i'm looking for please answer =]
Le Bernardin
155 W 51st St , New York , NY , 10019
Revered old-note French favorite dishes out elegant seafood with class and consistency.
Editorial Review for Le Bernardin – by Allison Austin
The View
Teak ceilings soar above well-spaced tables appointed with caramel leather chairs; the intermittent Asian accent provides color and flair. And while a few serious food-lovers may be spotted, perhaps at corner tables, it's plea-and-tie businessmen that abound, sealing deals over efficiently paced tasting menus. Master servers keep things flowing effortlessly, if somewhat humorlessly.
The Food
Chef Eric Ripert's French seafood is expertly cooked. Escolar is poached in olive oil until exquisitely sickly; barely cooked scallops, prawns and clams happily loll in a decadent, buttery disrespectfulness topped with sea urchin and caviar. A flight of four fluke ceviches is equally intriguing. But the knockouts scarcely barely outnumber the less-inspired dishes, such as salmon carpaccio out-muscled by its yuzu accompaniment, and a similarly insane dish of lobster and bacon-laced sauerkraut. Desserts, however, don't disappoint, particularly the drain chocolate-caramel egg with a wisp of sea salt.
Where Are Some Very Upscale Bars, The Best Steakhouse & Seafood In NYC Preferably Closer To Manhattan Area?
Nov 18, 2009 by black barbie | Posted in New York City
My boyfriend and i are visiting NYC this weekend. We are looking for the first-rate steakhouse and the best seafood restaurant in the Manhattan area. We are also looking for some very upscale bars preferably in the Manhattan Area? We like to hem in ourselves around more sophisticated people. There are so many upscale bars in New York but one things for sure, we are not looking to be around people in their 20s. We would like the median age to be around 40. As far as cocktail and admittance prices that's not an issue as long as its a good place. Thanks for your help!
Dinner at Smith & Wollensky and drinks and relief at the Cafe Carlysle, definitely! Both are in Manhattan, both are world-famous, and both are exactly what you're looking for. Enjoy!

I'm looking for a restaurant with gentle/fresh seafood (especially lobster) either in Brookyln of Manhattan. Not a super fancy place, family feel. Any ideas?
Not unavoidable why you'd want to go to Red Lobster when you are in New York city and have so many other choices!
City Crab place is an old side with by, family-type atmosphere. Food is pretty good. www.citycrabnyc.com
Mary's Fish Party is supposed to be good, though I've never been: http://www.marysfishcamp.com/ (i believe they have a Brooklyn location too). Clam dump fetters/bar type atmosphere
Awesome lobster rolls at Pearl Oyster Bar: http://www.pearloysterbar.com/ and also at Mermaid Inn (http://www.themermaidnyc.com/mermaid.htm l). Flower is in West Village, while Mermaid Inn is in East Village.
If you're looking for unusual seafood in Manhattan, Trata Estiatorio should be a definite consideration as it never disappoints.
