Info On New York Dining? |
May 05, 2009 by jstlookather | Posted in New York City
Flourishing to New York next week for four days.
Can anyone suggest some really nice restaurants to eat dinner at ? (staying at Crowne Plaza, manhattan)
If you like steak there are a two of good places nearby. Sparks at 46th and 3rd ave, and Morton's at 45th and Fifth. They are costly though. For more reasonable survive you could venture over to Ninth Ave where there is about a hundred restaurants between 42'd and 57th streets. Ralphs on 56th street is popular. Restaurant Row on 46th east of Ninth Ave also has some top spots.
For a top shelf face, see if you can get a reservation at Chanterelle's. Or Union Square.
Do yourself a favor and stay out of theme restaurants, or anything as the crow flies by Times Square.

What Are The NEW YORK Musts? |
Aug 03, 2009 by early | Posted in New York City
I'm staying on Seventh Ave in Manhattan, what are the MUSTS of New York? I don't longing to stray too far from Manhattan, but If I have to I will.
I already have the Guggenheim, MoMa, the Met, Chrysler building, Rockefeller plaza, and a decent amount of food places. What do you endorse? Be sure to include those hidden treasures as well!
Anything like little boutiques, cheap finds, restaurants, regular tourist crap.. basically anything.
Lots of people won't predict you about their little boutiques they go to, they are all off the tourist trail and New Yorkers like it that way.
I think you should basically eat your way from Manhattan and the Bronx morally, just don't stop eating. Some places to eat at are Serendipity's for famous frozen hot chocolates, Grimaldi's pizza, I mull over everyone that goes to New York should at least try to eat a hotdog off a stand (I struggled thinking exactly what I was eating eek), Dylan's bon-bons bar. Well that's a start.
Go to a comedy club, see a Letterman taping, Broadway show, see a live band, go on a twilight helicopter tour, see if Jenny still lives on 'the block', go to M&M's world, join a gang in Harlem etc etc.
I don't positively like all the touristy crap, try and find some gems off the beaten path (hard in NYC i know).
Cook sure you go to all the boroughs.
