Would Staying In Manhattan,KS Or Kansas City Be Better?
Apr 20, 2008 by Kate | Posted in Kansas City
I scenario continuing my education. I am interested in a practical nursing program or Occupational therapy. My one's own flesh want me to go back to KC but I would like to stay in Manhattan. I have known this guy for a year and we like eachother,he also wants to head-stay in Manhattan as well. Do you think it would be a good idea to stay in Manhattan or Kansas City?
When I mean Manhattan, I mean Manhattan,KS
Since you seem to like Manhattan, you could bide there...as long as they have the schooling you need, and you are sure that you are okay with seeing your family occasionally.
Kansas City and Lawrence are rarely right on top of each other, but they are close, so you could always go to school at KU, if that's an option avaliable to you. I know KU has a wonderful doctor program, but you might be competent to find what you need at K-State too.
Of course, living around the Manhattan, KS area I would myself be partial to it...but it's about finding your needs.
My squelch and I are moving to that area. We have heard up and down things about Junction city and have heard only good things about Manhattan. We've got a a newborn on the way and want to live somewhere safe. What's your opinion on the two?
Decidedly go with Manhattan. I used to live in Herington, KS which is 30 minutes south from Junction City. The only reason people go to Interchange City is to go to bars, or Walmart. Junction is a dirty little town, where they soldiers know they are scarcely there temporarily, and they don't care about the town, they only care about getting drunk. All the houses are run down, and I would not want to live there!
Manhattan is much cleaner. It's a honest 45 minutes from Herington, but people from Herington do travel that far to go to the mall or the movie theater. It seems much safer, it even has a likeable zoo.
Since it is a college town, there is a part of town refered to AggieVille which is full of bars and tattoo parlors, but even that breadth is cleaner and better cared for than all of Junction City is. Also I did notice a lot of auto body shops because those college kids get into a lot of fender benders. But it is a catchy town, it's clean, and it seems safe to raise a family.

I sugest you find a penurious hotel that has a Kitchenette that rents by the week untell you get established. There is a couple on State AVE in KC,KS one on Merriaim lane in Overland Put,KS and a few on Independence Blvd and I-35, One at 18Th and Cherry in KC,MO also one near the Downtown airport. Also the shelter (City Alliance Mission) just north of the bus station will let you stay at night and will help you get it together.
Thousands of vagabonds people find shelter from the streets through the Hotline for the Homeless, a service of City Union Mission. Men, women and families call the Hotline at (816) 474-4599 to find out which Kansas City shelters can produce temporary shelter for the night. The Hotline, a free service, works with other shelters to equip accurate information 24 hours a day, handling around 19,000 calls each year.
