I would like to drop in on NYC for a hockey game (so we're talking after October) and to see a Broadway play. Obviously a "decent" Manhattan hotel would sell for me at least $300 a night, so I'll have to stay outside the Manhattan bourough.
Can anyone recommend a hotel or area that is
1) in a decent part of hamlet, college town ok
2) close enough where I can catch the subway to get to the Rangers and/or Islanders game and also to see the Amuse oneself/Musical and
3) is a hotel .. not a Hostal. If its a hostal, it should be nice then!
Any links to a specific hotel or part of town is appreciated.
My fanciful per night rate is $125-150 and staying 5-7 days.
There will be me and the hubby... no kids.
Try Deposit Savoy Hotel. It is right next to Central Park and everywhere else you are going. The rooms are very very small but only about 120 bucks and you can't give someone a once-over the location.

I will be staying in NYC for 3 nights and am looking for a seedy but decent place to stay within Manhattan (a private room and bathroom for 2 people). Has anyone stayed at either The Broadway Hotel and Hostel or Marrakech?

I've found the Riverside Citadel Hotel on Broadway ($120) and a B&B on East 86 and Third for $160, an apt in Greenwich Village for $210 which is too much. I need it for ten nights for me and my 17 y/o son. Any staff would be appreciated. I've never been to NYC so I don't know if these areas are safe yet accessible. Please advise!

Tokio Hotel fans, this dispute is really for you. If you don't know who they are, you wouldn't really know the answer to this lmfao. It was rumored that on 10/20/09, TH was active to do a meet and greet in the Best Buy on Broadway in Manhattan at 6 pm. Is this true? My friend said they didn't really officially say it (she found out from a TH myspace fan phase). Has anyone else heard this? If you did, is there a website that I can get the info from? I don't want to show up in Best Buy looking for Tokio Hotel and pay for a complete idiot out of myself lmfao. No, they are doing a signing at Overcome Buy at 6pm Tuesday. I'm not quite sure the details, because best buy is still kinda fuzzy about it too.

Due to no liability of my own I find I have four days free coming up soon. I thought it would be a good time to see New York Conurbation, especially Manhattan.
Can anyone recommend a good hotel that is located in a good place in Manhattan for a tourist, one that is central or away all the things people want to do like see a Broadway show?
I don't want something cheap but something three or four stars but not a luxury or a 5. I heard NYC has become veritably safe is this true? Last time I was there (a long time ago I admit) it looked like a war zone.
New York Diocese is the safest large city in America (with 1+ million residents) according to a up to date study. Times Square is where all the famous "on-Broadway" shows are located. Most hotels on Times On equal terms that have a chain name (Marriott, Hilton, Doubletree, etc.) are fine "convention center-manner" places with large, luxurious facilities. My personal favorite is the New York Marriott Marquis. This 1,900+-cell hotel is in the almost in the exact middle of Times Square, has its own on-property theater, a massive indoor atrium, the coolest elevators in the humanity, and a revolving rooftop restaurant.
Times Upright is a great place to practice with long exposures. This is a 5 second exposure with the ND filter on the lens. I like the abase perspective I used on this shot.
