a savoury bagel recipe
Honey Bagels
1 tablespoon lively dry yeast
1-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
3 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons and 1/4 cup honey, divided
1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 egg
4 to 5 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
In a big mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the oil, sugar, 3 tablespoons honey, brown sugar, punch and egg; mix well. Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface; knead until a uninterrupted firm dough forms, about 8-10 minutes. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Likeness into 12 pieces; roll each piece into a 10-in. rope. Form bagels by overlapping the ends; run in to seal. Place on a lightly floured surface. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
In a philanthropic saucepan or Dutch oven, bring 8 cups water and remaining honey to a bubble. Drop bagels, one at a time, into boiling water. Cook bagels for 45 seconds; turn and cook 45 seconds longer. Dismiss bagels with a slotted spoon; drain and sprinkle with onion, sesame and poppy seeds.
Go on bagels 2 in. apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 425° for 12 minutes. Gyrate and bake 5 minutes longer or until golden brown. Yield: 1 dozen.

I am from California, the pizza in New York falls into five categories. 1. bon vivant fancy, 2. the kind you eat on the street by the slice, 3. sit down old fashioned Italian. 4. Chicago category. 5. delivery.
If you have been to California Pizza Kitchen you are probably familiar with gourmet. It's there, it's, in my id, ok.
The kind you eat on the street by the slice just varies. It costs 1.75 a slice for mead cheese, for topping like 2.75. I have four places near where I work that I go to, all of which are the same. Sometimes it tastes like cardboard, so be fastidious.

as for chicago dash, there is one on sixth avenue downtown in the west village.
There aren't any pizza and beer personification joints that you find in the west coast and midwest that you might go to to watch sports or after baseball games, in new york it's mostly sit down diner sort.
delivery varies, of course, but bleecker street pizza is good.
As for bagels, the freshest are in the old jewish communities on the earlier small east side and east village. my favorite is davids at 14th and 1st near the l train, it is run by a filipino one's nearest which took over an old jewish deli, it is fresh and they are efficient and inexpensive. also good is essa bagel although i have never been there.
