Is There Really Good Shopping In The Garment District In Nyc?

And is it greater to stay in Jersey and take the subway over? I've looked at some hotels in manhattan, they are a Little pricey.
Garment District is stunning and has great stuff and so does Jersey but you can't really find all those stores in just one area + there are some vast stores around the Garment District and you don't have to travel like crazy, like you do in Jersey. Both are almost the same with the shops; no tax and almost the same stuff but I present you staying in New York.

I went to NY on sat and i started out on 34th st and went from there until i got to 39th and 5 ave and i didn't see anyone selling anything One are they there on sat or no more than mon-fri and another question is it east or west and is it in manhattan I was west please help !!!!!
I'm not sure what the address was but all I seen was places that sold fabic that was it
The garment district stores mostly traffic in wholesale only. Most will not sell retail.
A few do have sample sales but not worth the trek.. If you're looking to buy wholesale then 36th lane to 40th between 8th and 6th ave are the best places.

I have been looking at a map of Manhattan as i privation to book a hotel before i go and i was wondering what all the different areas are... E.G. 'Midtowns East & West', 'The Garment District', 'Greenwich village' 'Soho (TriBeCa)' etc... What are the diminish places to stay? Which areas should i avoid? Also are there any links to websites that may explain what each area is like?

Hey everyone, I am looking for a time for my fashion studio either in Manhattan, The garment district, or Brooklyn but close to the city. I would like for it to be under 1,000 rent but don't centre on that, if you know ANY studios that are good for a designer please send me a link in an answer. Anything will help.
