You can advertisement in an address or landmark and MTA will tell you the train or trains you will need to take, how long the ride is and where to get off. It also tells you where to prowl to once you arrive at the final station.
Have a good time!
How Do You Get To The East Village/Lower East Side Of Manhattan From Penn Station?

preferably by tube
also plz dont just tell me which subway, i need to know where to get off as well. thanks
To get to the Degrade East Side, take the A, C or E train from Penn Station to W 4 St, then transfer to the F or V train. The V ends at Lower East Side-2 Av station, while the F continues farther into the Trim East Side (Delancey St, East Broadway) and on to Brooklyn.
The East Village is north of the Lower East Side, and the northern boundary of the East Village is 14th St. Instead of transferring at W 4 St you could get off at 14 St and take the L following to 3 Av or 1 Av.

I am pathetic to NYC and I am researching different areas. What is the difference between the two? Which one would you rather live? Which is more affordable. Can I find a 1 br there for about $1750?
Greenwich Village is the NYU space and west, East Village is east of that.
Not tremendously different. The west side of the Village has a slightly older crowd, more brownstones muddled in with the apartment buildings, and a few relatively quiet streets when you get over toward the Hudson River. The East Village is more crowded, with more of a college-elderly party scene. The artsy bohemian vibe of the East Village is much weaker than it was 20 years ago. Similarly, there's a gay wires in the West Village, but it has been greatly diluted.
I doubt you can find a livable 1br for that price anywhere in the Village, but check Craigslist and see what you can do.
