Which Area Is The Best Area To Live In Manhattan, New York City?
Jul 16, 2007 by Paris | Posted in New York City
I’m an artist & I can see my prospective is in NY; I love to move there. I am alone and I can manage to live even in a studio apartment or share with somebody and I can pay up to $2700 a month. I went exactly http://newyork.craigslist.org/ and some other websites; I looked at so many apartments in Manhattan but could not find even 1 nice apartment, studio or even a lodgings to share. By nice accommodation I mean somewhere, which is quite new (max 10 years old building) and clean with out any pets or bad hum. As u know, Manhattan has so many different parts (except HARLEM) such as:
Battery Park
Chelsea
Downtown
East Village
Fiscal District
Flatiron
Gramercy
Greenwich Village
Inwood / Wash Hts
Lower East Side
Midtown
Midtown East
Midtown West
Murray Hill)
Nolita
SoHo
TriBeCa
Amalgamating Square
Upper East Side
Upper West Side
West Village
Which area has more new buildings, less offence and nicer neighborhoods? Or how can I find a nice accommodation in Manhattan?
Tanx - Paris
If you can be able $2700 a month you can find something to rent just about anywhere. In NYC "pre-war" (meaning more than 65 years old) is considered a matter-of-fact selling point because the apartments were larger. Most "new" construction are condominiums & most of those are on the capitals east side. But that's not where the art crowd lives. They are pretty much below 14th St. There's very little "new" construction there.
Is It Better To Get A 2 Bedroom In Manhattan Or A 4 Bedroom Outside Of Manhattan?
Nov 10, 2008 by .:City Girl:. | Posted in New York City
Me and 3 other of my friends are impelling to New York next fall and we are trying to get everything together. We have been looking at places to live where we would feel safe and works with our budget. We were evaluation on just moving to Manhattan and getting a 2 bedroom apartment. We don't really mind sharing rooms or anything, but I due want to get an outsiders opinion on this.
if you unusually can stand to live on top of each other, then go for the Manhattan. because then you'll be in the middle of it all, or at least you could still walk home without crossing a bridge if you really had to...
What's An Appropriate Amount Of Money To Spend On Groceries In Manhattan For 3 Roommates?
Apr 23, 2009 by Liz | Posted in Personal Finance
Starting in September two roommates and I will be living in Manhattan on about $220/week each. We've looked at some apartments and found that shares are about $500/month, so that leaves us with about $380/month for everything else. Assuming we eat at home base most nights and avoid extravagances, how much money would we generally be spending on groceries a week?
I don't cognizant of prices in Manhattan but in the San Francisco Bay Area, I spend $150.00 per week for 7 people.
Appropriate Christmas Tip For Doormen In Manhattan Lux Apartment Builidng?
Dec 17, 2008 by Alpha B | Posted in New York City
I was wondering how much is wonted to tip the building staff at Christmas. I live in a full service, hi-rise building with the staff of 15 (doormen/concierge, porters, sustention guys). My rent is $1,500 (it's a corporate apt, my employer pays 50% of the rent). Getting one's hands: West 40ies. The buidling: 45 floors/12 apts per floor
Although it's listed as a Expendable hi-rise the building is very mixed: there are wealthy CEOs and recent college grads sharing everyday 1 or 2brs.
It will be my first Chrismas here ( i moved in Feb'08). The staff is very friendly (except for 1 guy, each building has that 1 guy who is not a team player) I introduced myself when on the move in and since then they all greet me by my name (of course except that 1 guy). I'm a very low maintenance tenant, they do accept my packages and dry cleaning every other week or so. Other than that I don't desire much from them.
I was thinking $30-$40 each. Less to that 1 guy and more to the 3 doormen I like best. I assume if they collect small amounts from over 400 apartments they'll end up with a very adequate Chrismas bonus.
I know it's prime Manhattan so standards are high here. I don't want to be cheap but can't act like Oprah either. What do u guys mark?
Any feedback is appreciated.
You are so affectionate - well done on your festive spirit. The amount sounds very generous to me and will be appreciated, but don't give different amounts. That just seems a skimpy off to me, maybe a bottle of scotch or something like that instead.
How Much Money Will I Spend Living In NYC Or Brooklyn Per Month In Food And Living Expenses?
Aug 28, 2009 by nygon | Posted in New York City
I'm prevalent there in a Work and Travel program, and I'd like to know how much money I'd have to earn in order to white-hot there. Sharing apartment (not in manhattan of course)...
That's flourishing to be different depending on what you eat, what your specific expenses are (water, electric, transportation, phone????). Things are more priceless in Manhattan than Brooklyn. Brooklyn can be expensive if you're in a better neighborhood.
You really need to be more specific to get an surrebuttal that will help you.
