Does it run north to south or east to west? Looking at a map, it technically runs northwest to southeast, but what is the accepted direction it's given? Are the Brooklyn bound lanes considered south bound or east fast? Or if I'm on the Manhattan end of the bridge would I say I'm on the north side or the west?
The dialect that they use for the bridges and tunnels in NYC are "Inbound" and "outbound". "Inbound" means you are succeeding "into" Manhattan, and "Outbound" means you are going "out of" Manhattan.
But, to surrejoinder your question, technically the Manhattan Bridge runs Northwest to southeast.
What Is The Water Under The Manhattan Bridge, In NYC, Called?
Aug 27, 2009 by AJF | Posted in New York City
Hey folks. Another bit of info needed for my crap untested please:
Sounds silly, but I just need a definition if the water (or river) underneath the Manhattan bridge is broadly called the lower East River, the Hudson River, or Hudson Bay?
If it's none of the above then please tell me what it is, thanks.
Most absolutely call it the East River, but if you had to give it a part, it would be the lower East River, (The Upper East River separates Queens and the Bronx), the river turns at its juncture with the Harlem River (also known as Hellgate).
What's The Quickest Subway Route From W 56th St Between 6th/7th Ave To The Brooklyn Bridge (manhattan Side)?

I prerequisite to get from West 56th St. between 6th and 7th avenues down to the brooklyn bridge on the manhattan side.
What you dire to do is:
Go to the corner of 7th Ave. and West 57th st. At that corner, there is a stop for the N,Q,R and W lines.
Take a downtown bound N,Q,R, or W train to 14th st.-Unity Square. Also, if you get the N or the Q, it will make the ride a little faster, but the N,Q,R and W all stop at 14th st. Union Square.
When you get to the 14th st. League Square Station, follow the signs for the 4,5 and 6 Lines (its a free transfer)
Then, take a downtown fated 4, 5 or 6 train to the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station. They all stop at that station, and the 4 and the 5 will get there a crumb faster.
When you get off at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station, you will be able to see the Brooklyn Bridge.
